Chris Cowan with Hatsumi Sensei

Chris Cowan (Ju-Godan/15th dan) is fully licensed by Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi, Bujinkan Soke and Grandmaster of Budo Taijutsu. Chris is also a Member of the Bujinkan Shidoshi kai. Chris began his martial arts training at the age of 4 years old, and has been instructing Budo Taijutsu since 1995 (including running his own club in college).
Chris has 46 years of experience in the martial Arts. Chris has been teaching the art for at least 27 years. A former Dancer and painter, Chris' s flow (nagare) and "keep going" attitude are an inspiration to everyone. Chris is currently training under Ju godan (15th dan) Michael Simien of the Bujinkan Butoku Dojo and Ju godan (15th dan) Dale Seago of S.F. Bujinkan Dojo.
On his latest trip to Japan he had the chance to train with many different Japanese Shihan such as, Nagato Sensei, Noguchi Sensei, Seno Sensei (R.I.P.), Someya Sensei, Furuta Sensei and of course Soke. When Chris took his Godan test, he passed with Hatsumi Sensei doing the cut at Hombu on 9/29/06. Chris also has a former background in Shotokan Karate, Aikido, Mui Thai, and Boxing.
Chris Cowan was just informed that he was awarded Daishihan by Noguch Sensei at the Las Vegas, 2022 TaiKai. Also pictured Sean Askew and James Garcia.
